software on Mac

by garye5007 on Fri Oct 19, 2007 11:55 am

Hello!
I'm new to this Arduino stuff, working my way thru tutorials
(didn't get very far). I bought starter pack. downloaded USB driver to MAC running OS X 10.2.8, Plugged in board via USB got power LED and One Yellow LED is blinking. I downloaded Arduino software version 10 and the window doesn't look like the tutorial, there is no menu bar (File,Edit,Sketch,Tools,Help) to select chip number or to select port.
I was able to put the blink sketch in the window but when i tried to verify, i got errors so i gave up thinking that because that menu bar was missing, i had done something incorrectly.
Where should i go from here?

Thanks, Gary

I'm on a mac too.. the menu bar isn't directly above the window, but rather is the top line of the display WAY up there. Pretty typical mac interface difference.

Interesting to know that it is working on 10.2.8 – the software page on the Arduino site says 10.3.9 or above for OS X.

No i didnt get it to work... so my boss gave me a newer mach. (goodbye emac)
running tiger... getting somewhere now , still haven't successfully run blink, i think minor problem we'll see tomorrow.
Thanks for asking... there were others on the arduino board that were having problems with 10.3.8 i probably could have bumped up to that, but this works better!
