Where to start???

by evix on Tue Mar 11, 2008 7:19 pm

So when I was a little kid I wanted a pet dinosaur, or a pet robot... The dinosaur thing seems unpromising, so Im starting on the robot thing. Im a linux user and have at least some experience and/or knowledge in most techy fields.

Well I got an Arduino which is a neat little thing, but I'd like to get some more experience with some less sophisticated kits... Anything you can throw at me would be appreciated, or even an email telling me how you got started.

Thank ya, thank ya...

Well the kits here are fantastic. They have everything you need to get started.
I did this:
Got a MiniPOV3, that taught basic soldering and a little about AVR
Then I made a USBTinyISP, that was slightly more advanced soldering and much more about AVR

After that I started making my own stuff, but if you want more, a Digg button, a MintyBoost, or a TV-B-Gone kit are all great solutions. All of those are available through www.adafruit.com

Good luck!

I think you just gave me the go ahead to go spend some more money and to hate the mail man for 2-3 days until I get my loot... Awesome.
