nRF52 - Wont run application code

by newbornsun on Fri Nov 08, 2019 3:09 pm

Hi,

I have an nRF52 feather here which is able to run the bootloader code (fading LED), I am also able to program the device through Arduino IDE, the RED LED flashes and I get the response from Arduino "Activating new firmware. Device Programmed. DFU upgrade took 7.222" but after this happens the device remains in boot loader mode (fading LED). So it does not appear to want to run the application code for whatever reason.

Has anyone experienced this/know a solution??

Thanks

Hi, newbornsun!

Can you post your source code? You can paste it into your reply; then highlight it, and click the [ CODE ] button to format it nicely.

Cheers,

Eric

Hi Eric,

Its with any application code, even as simple as blinky:

Code: Select all | TOGGLE FULL SIZE
/*
  Blink
  Turns on an LED on for one second, then off for one second, repeatedly.

  Most Arduinos have an on-board LED you can control. On the UNO, MEGA and ZERO
  it is attached to digital pin 13, on MKR1000 on pin 6. LED_BUILTIN takes care
  of use the correct LED pin whatever is the board used.
  If you want to know what pin the on-board LED is connected to on your Arduino model, check
  the Technical Specs of your board  at https://www.arduino.cc/en/Main/Products

  This example code is in the public domain.

*/

// the setup function runs once when you press reset or power the board
void setup() {
  // initialize digital pin LED_BUILTIN as an output.
  pinMode(LED_RED, OUTPUT);
}

// the loop function runs over and over again forever
void loop() {
  digitalToggle(LED_RED);   // turn the LED on (HIGH is the voltage level)
  delay(1000);              // wait for a second
}

Is your board the Adafruit Feather nRF52 Bluefruit LE - nRF52832? (not the nRF52840)

If so, did you run through the steps for setting up the board in the Bluefruit nRF52 Feather Learning Guide, including updating the bootloader?

Can you then try the exact sequence and code in Arduino Board Testing?
