ADAFRUIT STEMMA SOIL SENSOR - I2C CAPACITIVE MOISTURE SENSOR

by weal on Wed Oct 14, 2020 3:18 pm

The given temperature from the sensor means soil temperature or air?
Reading ranging from about 200 (very dry) to 2000 (very wet)
-Why dry doesn't start from 0 & wet ends in 100?.
-If 2000 represents (very wet) ,in which (minimum )value can be recorded wet by the sensor?

-What's different between ADAFRUIT STEMMA SOIL SENSOR and (SHT-?? Mesh sensors) ?

It's the temperature of the little chip on the board. It will be close to ambient air temperature, but can be off due to effects like local heating, etc.

The STEMMA Soil Sensor is a custom capacitive based solution, using the seesaw firmware and a SAMD21 microprocessor.

The values are essentially the raw readings from the sensor and don't have any actual units. They are simply correlated to the soil moisture levels indicated.

-Which is better "ADAFRUIT STEMMA SOIL SENSOR" or "SHT Mesh sensor" to measure the water in the soil?
The sensor gives me "capread"
-What does mean by "capread"? is it refers to "Humidity " ?
I want to use send data from "ADAFRUIT STEMMA SOIL SENSOR" to sigfox cloud but I need to write parser , I don't know how to write it, I would be grateful if you could help me?

Can you post the code you are running to give that error?

It's the raw capacitive reading:
Code: Select all | TOGGLE FULL SIZE
  uint16_t capread = ss.touchRead(0);

Capacitive reading is refer to Humidity ?

Capacitive reading is refering to soil moisture not air humidity.

Try touching the body of the sensor to make the 'moisture' measurement go up. In soil, you'll see this range from about 300 to 500, but make sure to test it by placing in a pot of soil and looking at the serial console to get an idea of what the range is. Note that it does depend on how packed/loose the soil is!
I didn't understand that.

When I have touched the body of the sensor, I did not get that range from about 300 to 500,every time I get Moisture: 1015

Is it possible to use Sht-10 sensor instead of I2C CAPACITIVE MOISTURE SENSOR ?
https://learn.adafruit.com/wireless-gar ... fi-modules
is there any conflict and affected by the other sensors if I used all my CAPACITIVE MOISTURE SENSOR for one plant or one flied?
