Powering Adafruit 16-Channel 12-bit PWM/Servo Shield with 5v

Hi there,

I currently have an Adafruit 16-Channel 12-bit PWM/Servo Shield - I2C interface hooked up to my Arduino UNO. The exact shield can be seen here:

To power the servos. I'm using a 6A, 5V power supply to do this. The exact power supply can be seen here:

https://ie.rs-online.com/web/p/embedded ... /?sra=pmpn

Now, the power supply is lighting up when connected to the wall fine however when I connect it to the connector on the servo shield it stops working and the light to show the V+ servo power on the shield is not on. I am definitely going to the right slots on each piece of hardware but it is not working. I am using standard copper plug wires to do the connection. Could that be the problem? I have ran the i2c_scanner sketch and I am communicating with the shield. I have a feeling I'm doing something wrong.

Could it be my wires? I'm going from V+ on the power supply to V+ on the shield and then the other outlet on the shiled goes to V- on the supply.

Any help on the matter would be hugely appreciated.

Thank you.

Can you post pictures of the shield and the soldering you've done?
