I am working with a Feather Huzzah ESP8266 and it stopped being recognized by my PC. It was working but then I may have accidentally touched a 5V wire to somewhere near the BAT or EN pin and I saw smoke. I don't know where it shorted because it was covered when I plugged it in (from an external 5V power supply connected to USB and GRND pins). I don't see any burn marks or any damage on the board.
The board seems to work fine other than the PC seeing it. The arduino sketch I uploaded before the issue still works just fine.
I'm not plugging the board into my PC with the external 5V turned on.
Any ideas as to what happened or what I can do?
Thank you

Re: PC not seeing Feather Huzzah ESP8266
It sounds like your short and blue smoke event zapped the USB to serial chip. The ESP8266 module and the voltage regulator seem to still be OK, that's why you can apply power and the previous code still runs. But the USB to serial chip is what your PC actually sees when you plug it in.
