I recently bought an Adafruit MAX31856 thermocouple amplifier along with an Adafruit type-K thermocouple w/ steel tip. Upon setting it up as instructed and running the example code, I found random characters displaying in the serial monitor instead of temperature readings or even a fault. To be exact the monitor displayed: w⸮⸮⸮⸮⸮0⸮⸮⸮⸮⸮⸮⸮⸮⸮0⸮⸮⸮⸮⸮⸮Q⸮⸮ħ⸮⸮⸮⸮⸮⸮⸮⸮⸮⸮⸮⸮0⸮⸮⸮⸮⸮Q⸮0⸮⸮⸮⸮0⸮. With a new character being added every second or so. I double checked my soldering to make sure that I didn't connect two pins, so that is not the problem. Please assist on what I should do to remedy this problem.
(Note that nothing to right of the breadboard is connected, that is from a previous project, so there is no interference there either.)

Make sure that your serial monitor is set for the same baud rate as the example code: (115200)
