Arduino IDE Huzzah 8266 settings not listed in the guide

by drizzt321 on Wed Aug 26, 2020 1:37 pm

So in the guide for the Huzza 8266 it has a screen shot with some settings, but in the current Arduino IDE (1.8.12) I see additional options, and the Flash Size values don't have the exact same values. Similar, but not exactly the same.

What's the correct values? What are the additional options?

If you leave the others with their default settings and only change the ones mentioned in the guide, does it upload OK?

Within the last few revisions of the Arduino IDE the flash utility esptool.py got included with Arduino and allows for all the configurable options. I do not know the defaults you should be using, but I also think the issue lies elsewhere as you are not able to access COM4.

Which model of the Huzzah 8266 are you using? Is it the Feather Huzzah ESP8266? Please be precise here because we have a lot of confusion with the Huzzah32.

I take it that you have installed the necessary drivers for the CP2104 chipset?

Yes, the Feather Huzzah ESP8266. Didn't realize there was Huzzah breakout, and other various of Huzzah.

And yes, the chipset serial drivers are in. I solved that issue by rebooting, I can connect now.

However, I'm curious about all the rest of the settings, especially the Flash Size settings, which don't precisely match any of the ones in the Guide.

Those settings are all new to us. Just leave them as default.
