Soil Moisture Sensor capacitive reading always 0?

Post by lounsbg »

Greetings!

My partners and I are working on a project using the Adafruit soil moisture sensor/probe. We have installed the code for the seesaw library and are simply trying to run the example code but the capacitive reading for the device is constantly 0. We are using an Arduino Nano 33 BLE but we have the correct wiring set to A5 and A4 which are still SDA and SCL pins on this board. I have tried using older versions of the seesaw library and I have had no luck. We have also checked the pins and wiring multiple times and aren't sure if it simply a hardware issue or what we are reading in incorrectly. Any help is greatly appreciated!

I ,also, am in the same situation, purchased the stemma I2C moisture sensor and am running the example code on an esp8266. I am getting temperature reading, They seem reasonable although maybe about 4 degrees high. But capacitance value is constant 27/28 dry and when adding moist paper towel, value does not change. I'm suspecting defective sensor.
