sharp ir sensor connector cable length
Is there a maximum cable length from the sharp ir sensor to an arduino?

@rmutt,
Cable length should not be a significant factor for the Sharp IR sensor (#157). If you need several feet of length then keep voltage drop due to wire resistance in mind. You can easily test with shorter distances of cable should the data becoming erratic.

Re: sharp ir sensor connector cable length
I'm planning an installation where the sensors may be 15-20 feet from the central sound generator (a tsunami wav) Will this be a problem? Is there a way to drive the line? Thanks for your help.

Re: sharp ir sensor connector cable length
Once you have measured the resistance of 20' of the wire you plan to use for the IR sensor you can plug that into Ohm's law and calculate the voltage drop. I suspect that it will be substantial leading to signal problems, but why not estimate the numbers first and decide if you need to come up with another plan.
