Hi,
I just got a 9 volt battery holder with switch for Adafruit. It did not work with a Diecimila arduino. The plug does not seem to fit properly. There is 9 volts on the plug, but the arduino does not turn on.
Has this problem happened before?
I need my $3.95 back.
Thanks,
Ken

Just to check, this is the battery holder you are using?

Can you elaborate on what did not fit in terms of the barrel plug. Did it not go into the Arduino board at all? Or did, but is loose?

Re: 9 volt box did not work with arduino
Yes it is box 67.
The plug did not fit all the way into the female jack. There was a tiny gap (maybe a few millimeters). The plug is not loose,, but it does not go all the way in.
Now please answer my original question. Has this happened before? (I suspect it is a manufacturing error.)
I need a refund for a defective product.
Thank you,
Ken Kornstett

Re: 9 volt box did not work with arduino
thats not unusual for there to be some gap. these battery holders are pretty reliable
what if you measure the voltage on the battery holder with a multimeter? check the switch and that the battery is 9V too

Re: 9 volt box did not work with arduino
Hi,
I measured the voltage with a VOM. The battery was 9 volts and the switch switches the voltage on and off. I put the VOM probes in the connector and it is 9 volts.
I did that the first thing.

Re: 9 volt box did not work with arduino
huh well the box is working fine then it seems
and if you power the arduino from another 9V power supply it works OK?

Hi,
I have only used the USB to power the Arduino. I wanted to have a remote Arduino, so I bought a 9 volt Box.

Re: 9 volt box did not work with arduino
well, right now you have a box that gives 9V out, so it could be the arduino?

Re: 9 volt box did not work with arduino
Hi,
I suppose it could be the Arduino, but the fact that it has a gap of 1/8 inch seems too large to me.
See the enclosed picture of the large gap.

Re: 9 volt box did not work with arduino
did you set the arduino jumper to DC power?

Re: 9 volt box did not work with arduino
Hi,
No. I moved the power jumper and my Arduino now works. The battery box is OK.
Thanks for helping me,
Ken
