Mounting Atmega32u4 Breakout Board, screw size question

Post by mkrell007 »

I'm trying to find a screw that can be used to mount the Atmega 32U4 breakout board. http://www.adafruit.com/products/296

I've got plenty of #4-40's but these are too big for the mounting hole. Anyone have any experience with these, and will a #3-38 fit that mounting hole? Or am I better off just using threaded standoffs and getting them to fit by melting/trimming them down?

IIRC, most of our screw holes are designed for M2 hardware. That's about a #1 or #2 in UNC/UNF terms.
