Thermal Printer Guts - No test page

Post by realabsurdity »

I have power (5v, 2.5A) connected to the printer. I can hold down the button as I plug in the power but it only advances the paper 5-10mm at a time for a little while in sync with the flashing light and then stops. There is no printing on the paper. After that, pushing the button advances the paper.

Am I missing something?

Should work. Please email [email protected] with a link to this thread for a replacement printer

hello, i just got my miniprinter and i have a similar problem but its even worse. i supplied power to it via an old mobile charger (6.6V, 1A) because that was the only thing i had around. i plugged it in the led blinks so aim thinking it works but then it will neither print the info/start sheet nor move the paper at all. it doesnt even rotate. it only makes superfaint clicking sounds and when i hold the button down. i really hope its not defect? i guess its about the power supply but then 1A is maybe not enough to print but should be enough to move it no???

what do you think?
thx!

I think 1A is not enough. Get a 5V 2A supply

Hi,
I'm also having problems printing the test page.
I recently bought a thermal printer guts. I have been trying to make it print the test page via the online instructions for both Raspberry Pi and Arduino Uno and am having no luck.
I have also tried plugging it in to the power supply and holding down the button and the paper cycles through - I have tested this with different voltages and seen no difference.
Is there a solution to this problem I may have missed somewhere? I'm new to using a thermal printer.

These are the tutorials I have tried:

What power supply are you using?

The paper moves, but nothing prints? Are you sure you have the paper installed correctly?

Are any LEDs lit?

Can you post some pictures of your setup?
