I'm following the instructions on how to test my Adafruit Ultimate GPS Logger Shield with an UNO and it says to connect 4 pins with jumpers
// Connect VIN to +5V
// Connect GND to Ground
// Connect GPS RX (data into GPS) to Digital 0
// Connect GPS TX (data out from GPS) to Digital 1
These are thru holes in the GPS Shield.
The only jumper wires I have are breadboard jumpers and they don't really seem to make a tight good connection. I don't want to power up the board with loose jumpers
Is there another type of jumper wire I should be using for this? I don't want to solder in wires yet because I'm just in the initial testing phase. I've searched the adafruit pages but don't see any other type of jumper wires (except the harnesses - do those work if I strip off individual wires?)
Thanks

If you are connecting the shield to your Uno you should need no jumpers, just plug it in.

It's already connected to the UNO, I'm following the instructions to test it before completing the build with other components and it says to jumper those four holes together to do the testing.
It's here https://learn.adafruit.com/adafruit-ult ... d/overview
Under the Direct Connection Using the Switch (Uno/Mega)

Where in the direct test does it say you need to add jumpers for the Uno?

Re: jumper wires on Adafruit Ultimate GPS Logger Shield?
It doesn't say add jumpers for the UNO. It says, in the comments of the 'shell' test program, to jumper four points as I posted above
// Connect VIN to +5V
// Connect GND to Ground
// Connect GPS RX (data into GPS) to Digital 0
// Connect GPS TX (data out from GPS) to Digital 1
The GPS shield is mounted on top of the UNO, if you look at the GPS Shield there are rows of plated holes four of which are labeled as above. In order to perform the ''Direct Test'' you have to jumper "GPS RX" to "Digital 0" etc as listed above.
The photo of this area is here

You can see TX and RX holes right to the left of the small "Soft Serial"/"Direct" switch they have you switch during the Direct Testing.
Again, exactly what kind of jump do I use to jump , say, the TX hole to the Digital 1 hole shown? I tried breadboard jumpers but they are too narrow and don't make a good connection in the holes.
Maybe I'm missing something completely here but I don't think so - how else do I make the four connections
// Connect VIN to +5V
// Connect GND to Ground
// Connect GPS RX (data into GPS) to Digital 0
// Connect GPS TX (data out from GPS) to Digital 1
to do the testing?

// Connect GPS TX (data out from GPS) to Digital 1

Have you tried running the program as it says to in the tutorial? Load the program, set the switch and check the serial monitor.
