TV B Gone not working

Post by anthonyjohnson »

Hello,

I recently assembled my TV-B-Gone kit, and once I tried the green light test, it flashed around two or three times and didn't flash again. I have checked soldering several times, I have tried new batteries, I also tried the whole kit and none of the LEDS work when trying with a camera no light is showing

Please let me know what details are needed

Do you have a multimeter? Check to see if you have 3V between pins 4 and 6 on the chip:

Also, make sure you have the correct transistor installed at Q5

Hi I am waiting for my multi meter to arrive, I will be able to check this when it arrives and let you know.

For the Q5 I installed the one that was on its own not the 4 that were together is that correct ?

Yes that is correct. Q5 is the different one.

My problem is the voltage between the 4th and 6th pin is 1V. What does this mean and how do I fix it? Thanks:)!

You may have a short circuit.
Please post clear, detailed pictures of both sides of the TV B Gone board.

Also, I checked and the transistor pins aren't soldered together. Thanks!

The solder on your ground (black) wire isn't very good. Re-flow that one, and make sure the solder flows completely over the pad.
