Trying to build this from scratch (not using kit) and really

by spacedementia87 on Thu Jul 07, 2016 5:02 am

I downloaded the schematic and PCB files to inspect them so I can build my own circuit on a breadboard.

I understand the schematic fine, but the pcb file seems to have a load of trailing connections.

In particular the VCC and GND connections from the battery don't seem to go anywhere and as such the LEDs don't have any power.

What am I missing? I have uploaded an image showing my issues.

The Eagle files are here for download. https://learn.adafruit.com/tv-b-gone-kit/download Those leads are on the other layer.

That image is from the eagle files downloaded from here.

I have both layers visible (red is top, blue is bottom) unless there is a third.

That looks like the v1.0 file while I am looking at v1.2

I think it has to do with the surface being coated in the copper except for gaps around the traces where needed.

I have decided to do away with the 6 pin headers (partly because with the socket I can always remove the chip if I need to reprogramme it and partly because I accidentally order 1.27mm header pins!) So I just rewrote the whole circuit.

@spacedementia87 I had this very same question! I think the connections on the v1.0 board will be very instructive for me, but out of curiosity, would you be able/willing to post your re-wired circuit? It might help me and others who are stymied by this issue.
