Feather m0 Bluefruit unresponsive, only yellow led flashes

by eclary14 on Tue Jun 11, 2019 7:59 am

I just received a 3.7 V Lipol Battery today, and after plugging it into my feather m0 Bluefruit, a few minutes later my board became completely unresponsive besides the charging yellow light flashing quickly after I plug it in by USB. I pressed the reset button and there is no red light no matter how many times I press the reset button. Is my board unrepairable? Should I order a new one? Is this something that I did by making bad connections or is it something that was wrong with the board itself?

Did you order the battery from us?

Is the Feather attached to the Perma-Proto board?

Yes I ordered the battery from adafruit, and it is attatched to a perma-protoboard.

How exactly is the Feather attached to the proto board? The rows are electrically connected, so you may be shorting out several pins on the Feather by doing this.

The Rx, Tx, and DFU are in the same row, and the 13,12, and 11 pin are in a row. Since I am not using any of those I did not think it would matter.

Even if you are not using them, you do not want to electrically connect them.

Can you remove the Feather from the proto board?

That is another problem, I soldered it on with headers, so now I can't think of a way to separate the two since it is connected in 3 different spots and I have one soldering iron.

I'm afraid you'll need to try to figure out a way to do this somehow. One of these could help:
https://www.adafruit.com/product/148
https://www.adafruit.com/product/1597

We'll want to get back to having the Feather unattached to anything - so all the pins are unconnected. And then we'll use the Blink sketch to sanity check basic program upload and running.
