Metro Mini will not start/Is not recognized by Windows

Post by MiniMark33 »

Hello,

So just today I plugged in my Metro Mini 328 to my computer (Windows 10), and my computer gave the warning that the device malfunctioned. I looked in device manager and it showed the error "Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)". The Arduino IDE also does not recognize the Metro Mini. I've tried multiple USB cables already that I know work for file transfer and I get the same problem. Also the red LED labeled "L" turns on then stays solid, which it never did before (See picture). Is there any way to fix this?

Thanks in advance

The red LED is connected to pin 13, so having it light up just means the pin is high.

Just to check, have you installed the driver for the CP2104 USB-to-Serial converter?

I have not installed that, but the Metro Mini was being recognized earlier in Windows, it just suddenly stopped. When I get back to my computer I can try and install it, though I don't think it will fix it.

Installed the driver, same behavior. Hitting the reset button results in the same thing (On light and L light both on).

If the USB host doesn't recognize the CP2104, it's probably a hardware problem. When did you get the board?

I'm sorry, but that's past our 30-day return/eplace period.
