Feather 32u4 Bluefruit LE Low Power cycle

by obikenobi1 on Tue Nov 13, 2018 11:16 am

Hi ! Greetings to everybody I'm new to the forum, pleased to meet you.

I recently bought some Bluefruit LE 32u4 boards and I would like to set them as beacons with a fairily large advertising period (eg. 60 seconds of silence/ 10 seconds of advertising).
I would also try to put the board to deep sleep between one cycle and another (turn off radio, put the uC in deep sleep and try to consume <1mA), is there some library out there that allows me to play with the low power/deep sleep cycle of the board?

Looking forward, thanks in advance
Kind regards

Our SleepyDog library provides an easy way to put that microcontroller to sleep:

https://github.com/adafruit/Adafruit_SleepyDog

But for low-power work you'll get better results from the TPL5110 breakout:

https://www.adafruit.com/product/3435

It's a low-power timer that controls all power to a load.. in this case, the BLE boards.

For comparison, shutting down the BLE board's 3.3V regulator and cutting power to the microcontroller completely takes the board's current consumption down to about 80uA. The TPL5110 breakout's idle current is about 20uA, almost all of which is leakage through the power-on LED. If you cut the trace to that, the TPL5110 itself uses less than 100nA.. about three orders of magnitude better than the BLE board.

Thank you very much for the quick response!

I'll definitely look into the lib.
