Adafruit Seesaw + Atmel Studio

by joshkeys on Mon Apr 08, 2019 7:06 am

Hey everyone,

I'm looking to add some custom code to the Seesaw firmware. I've cloned the repo and downloaded Atmel studio but do not see a project file. I've manually created a project and have started adding the files to it, but lots of errors. Before I go too far down that, am I missing something in that there should be a project file for the seesaw in that github folder?

Thanks,
Josh

I'm afraid we don't have much experience porting code from the Arduino IDE over to Atmel Studio. I know it works in general, but think it uses third-party add-ons.

Your best bet would be to check with the folks over at Microchip/Atmel. They'll know the current development environment better than we do. If they can point you toward anything in the board support package, we can help you locate that.

Thanks for the reply. I’m a bit confused though. On the website for the seesaw chip it says

“ at this time our project is for Atmel Studio but you could probably get it working with arm gcc and a Makefile. ”

So is it actually for arduino and that is a typo? The code at the Github repo is meant to be built in the arduino IDE? If so, what is the best way to get things up and running in the Arduino IDE?

Thanks
Josh

Sure thing. It is just the Github repo:
https://github.com/adafruit/seesaw

Is there something else I should be using?

Thanks
Josh
