ST-link V2 adapter question

by nickajeglin on Wed May 29, 2019 12:28 am

Hello everyone,

I'm looking to do some flashing of STM32 microcontrollers. The PCB's on hand have a 2x5 1.27mm pitch that is labeled "mini-jtag" on the silk screen. pins are labeled reset, JDTI, JTDO, JTCK, JTMS.

I believe that this programmer https://www.adafruit.com/product/2548 should work for my application, but it looks like the pitch is 2.54 on that. Is there a straightforward way, preferably an adapter, to go from 2x5 1.27 to 2x5 2.54 IDC connectors? Most of the adaptors I've seen are for 2x10-->2x5 for the bigger st-link programmers.

edit: now I'm thinking I could maybe just wedge some male-female jumper cables into the header holes on the PCB, but I'd be glad if someone else has a better idea.

We don’t have any straight adapter cables, but this breakout will work on a breadboard:

From there, you can use a 1.27mm cable to the microcontroller board.
