AVR Targetboard

by SebiR on Tue Jul 13, 2010 5:24 pm

The USBtinyISP has replaced my old STK500 mainly because it's USB powered and a lot smaller.
Most of my AVR projects don't have an ISP connector for firmware updates, that's why I liked the STK500. It has sockets for almost every ISP programmable AVR. You can put in the controller, program it and put it back in the project board. To bring this "target section" to the USBtinyISP, I have desinged a small board with 3 IC sockets for the most common AVR controllers.

This board can be connected to the USBtinyISP and all other programmers to program the following controllers:
DIP 8: Tiny12, 13, 15, 22, 25, 45 and 85
DIP 20: Tiny2313
DIP 28: Mega48, 8, 88, 168

I haven't etched it yet but it should work
You can download the EAGLE project files here

I hope you like it and share your experiences with me :D

Nice board, Eagle said sth. about *invalid data in the autorouter-block* when opening the files.
Anyway I'd use a larger drill for the vias and a ground-plane. With a ground-plane you don't have to wire up all the GND pins and there is less copper you have to etch away.

I thought about a GND polygon, but it wasn't that necessary in my opinon.

Problems with the Autorouter? Hmmm... The board was created with Eagle 5.1, maybe you don't have the newest version. Or can you open it anyway?

Today, I etched the board and it works just fine

I use 5.4. Eagle asks me to use the defaults instead and it worked..
