Adafruit CLUE nRF52840

by caseyjr16 on Wed Feb 03, 2021 11:55 pm

Hello,

I am working with a new microcontroller I recently received within the last month. Upon connecting a data transferring USB cable to the device, the data displays on the screen. Firstly let me start by saying the mu-editor does not download on my MacOS 'BigSur'. I'm using a 2015 model.

Now as for the issue: When I double click the reset button the screen freezes but the "CLUEBOOT" shows up in the finder. After a few seconds or so the entire device resets itself and ejects on its own prompting a notification...I'll leave screenshots. I have used a virtual VM for an attempted fix, no luck so far

That sounds right up to the part about it auto-reseting for no reason.

What do you mean by "the data displays on the screen"?

Also, "mu does not download"? It doesn';t download an install on your mac, or doesn't download code to the CLUE?

*The data freezes on the screen after I double-tap the reset button leading to the microcontroller rebooting itself again.

I installed VM Fusion software on my Mac. Windows 10 is running on the VM and mu-editor downloads; however, none of the code written in the code.py file.

Is Mu saving your code elsewhere? Saving to your CLUE is simply just saving it to the CIRCUITPY drive. Mu is usually pretty good about finding and using that automatically.

The screenshots I displayed above are the resources/tools I am working with when I start up the CLUE board, Dave.

Well, Mu knows it's using CircuitPython... but where is it saving the code? And what do you see in the REPL (click the "Serial" button to open the REPL pane).

On the attached screenshot you can see where the file is saving and the REPL data is coordinating with the data displaying on the screen.

Ok, it's not saving to your CLUE. That would be CIRCUITPY (however it shows up on windows).

You can copy it to CIRCUITPY yourself or (probably) have Mu start saving it there for you.

The clueboot does not show up until after the freezing issue.

You only need CLUEBOOT to install CircuitPython.

Could you go more in-depth about this process?

Thanks.

I'm sending screenshots for this.

This guide goes over everything you need to get up and running with the CLUE in either CircuitPython or C++: https://learn.adafruit.com/adafruit-clue.
