Adafruit TFP401 board compatible with this TFT Display?

by AG101 on Mon Feb 22, 2021 2:50 am

Hey there,
I've been looking into this TFT display (https://au.mouser.com/datasheet/2/1021/ ... 902961.pdf) and this Adafruit board (https://cdn-learn.adafruit.com/download ... isplay.pdf).

My plan is to use the Adafruit board to connect the TFT display to it and then connect a Raspberry Pi via HDMI? Is this feasible or not?

Thanks!

The links in your post seem to be broken. Try wrapping them in URL tags.

Thank you.

The pinout certainly looks good.. it's a dot-clock display and the pinout seems to line up with the TFP401 breakout.. but let me check with someone who really knows TFTs to make sure.

Yep, thank you for helping, I really appreciate it!

My main concern with it is that the backlit on the display runs on a current of 140mA, whereas the Adafruit TFP401 board only outputs 125mA. (Unless I'm reading the sheets wrong).
Does this mean the display will still run fine, but it won't be full brightness (1000 nits)? And if so, will it be close to 1000 nits (around 900)?

yeah the backlight is different but it will probably at least light up. it *seems* like it would work. but we haven't actually tested it. let us know if it does!
