Rpi zero WH problems

by scudmonger on Sat Mar 06, 2021 3:29 pm

Hello,

I received the RPI zero WH in the order

Order Confirmation No: 2500727-8503889902

However I cannot enable the Bluetooth or wifi. I have tried three different distros including the main one. Regardless of what I do there is no Bluetooth or Wifi option available.

I have tried to set the localization options however this comes back with no device configurable.

I also tried to see if it needed an update by attaching a wireless device via USB, and sudo apt-get update & upgrade, and that ran, but did not fix the wifi nor Bluetooth situation.

The project I am working on for this Pi needs wifi and Bluetooth. I have worked with Raspberry Pi’s for years and never saw this problem.

Please advise, thank you

You must be doing something wrong, go over it again & again and you will get the problem.

Have you tested I/O pins of your modules, are they working fine ???

The problem is the bluetooth and wifi, the other systems work fine.

Just to be sure - is it actually a Pi Zero W?

Thanks. How are you currently accessing the Pi? Like with an attached keyboard/monitor? Or USB serial cable? etc.

I have a keyboard mouse dongle hooked up via USB cable. The keyboard and mouse work fine. Also the Pi Zero W is hooked to the monitor via HDMI and works well too.

Please note, I can hook up a wifi via USB hub, and that appears and works. I did that and updated the OS, and nothing fixed. The firmware and OS are updated.

Let's see if there is anything useful in the kernel log. Try booting the Pi, logging in, and then running this command:
Code: Select all | TOGGLE FULL SIZE
dmesg | head -20

and post the output here.

Thanks, that helps. That Pi has a bit of an identity crisis. Let's replace it. Send an email to support@adafruit.com with a link to this thread and your order number and they can send you a replacement Pi Zero WH.
