Huzzah32 power source detection

by AnHo on Wed Mar 31, 2021 4:15 pm

Hi!
Does anyone know of a clean & easy way to detect if the Huzzah32 is running on battery or +5V power? I have a project where I have to be able to tell what the current power source is. I guess I could estimate the source by looking at the reading of pin A13, but it won't always be 100% correct.. There are of course the possibility of an external circuit with a diode and a current divider to measure the input power of the +5V pin, but hopefully there is a better way?

I do not know of a clean way to detect charging. My approach would be to read off the charge LED pin and sacrifice another GPIO. going off the USB pin as you suggest would probably be a cleaner connection, but could end up being more hardware and not so clear about when it is charging versus just connected.
