BLE Shields ...

by Bryananthonyobrien on Sun Apr 18, 2021 4:21 pm

Hi Folks,

I'd like to connect a pair of uno's over BLE using these, https://learn.adafruit.com/adafruit-bluefruit-le-shield.

Is this possible; does anyone have any code snippets they can share?

As a follow on, I'd like to configure a few of these to broadcast a message, and for another one to then push these messages to my MacOs and/or iOs. Is this possible; does anyone have any code snippets they can share?

Best Regards,
Bryan

Considering the price of the shield, and the fact that it is already having a way more powerfull microcontroller by itself than what an UNO delivers, I would go for a regular board based on a nRF52 chip and cut the UNO's from the equation.
So either get one of the nRF52840 boards:
https://www.adafruit.com/product/4481
https://www.adafruit.com/product/4834
https://store.arduino.cc/arduino-nano-33-ble
These are all BLE 5.1 and ARM M4 based, not BLE 4.0 ARM M0 based like your shield proposal.

Thanks, I appreciate the response. The reason for the Uno is play around with some basic sensors.
