HI All,
I think my QT PY c3 might be dead, I have tried pressing putting it into rom boot loader mode by pressing and holding the boot button and then pressing and releasing reset. But no joy :-(. Is there anything else to try?

Can be a bad cable too. Tried changing that?

Verify the USB cables are good by using them with something else and verify they can move data and are not charge only cables.

Yup used a high quality data cable that I use to connect my lap top to displays and storage devices.

Is the PC responding at all when you attempt to go into ROM bootloader mode?

I am running OSX and monitoring /dev indicates that the qt py is not being recognized as no device entry get populated. Of course as such the Ardunio app can't find a port for it. Using the "System Information" App to explore the USB buses don't see any evidence of it on the bus. Of course maybe I am overlooking something but it was auto recognized before and the port was visible to the Arduino app without problems.

Sounds like the board used to work? So the not-showing-up is a new behavior?it was auto recognized before and the port was visible to the Arduino app without problems.
Can you provide more information about how the board has been used? What all was connected to the pins, etc.?

BFF connected via solder wires to +5, GND, and A2
On the STEMMA connector was RTC, HAPTIC and OLED display breakouts
A3 wired to SQR WAVE pin of RTC to permit interrupt driven alarms
A1 wired for a button that I have not added yet (with additional GND lead)
I have been debugging an issue with respect to the OLED not resetting when BFF is turned on and off

In his process the conglomeration was in my case, a min altoids can with a 450mAh Adafruit battery, on my desk running a test loop: (wakeup every minute display the time and vibrate the haptic). At some point I noticed it was not operating that is when I discovered that the QT PY seemed to not to be operational. I removed the devices from the I2c bus, removed the battery, turned off the BFF and tried reconnecting it via a USB my laptop to start debugging. However, I could not figure out how to get my laptops talking to the QT PY again and I started this post.

Make sure you are insulating any portions of your project that have electricity or ground from the Altoids tin itself. Altoids tins are conductive to electricity.

There's a lot going on. Could be that something got shorted somewhere.
If you remove everything but what's been soldered on, it's still not showing up with ROM bootloader mode?
Do you have a multimeter?

yup removed all soldered leads.

Idea with a multimeter would be to measure the voltage on the 3V pin with the QT PY plugged in to USB. See if there's still 3.3V there to check that the voltage regulator is still OK.

Hi sorry for the delay I was traveling. Unfortunately I don’t have the device as I left it with a friend while I was traveling who is designing a proper case for the project.
I have purchased a replacement and all seems to be going smoothly with it, using the same peripheral devices. I am at a loss with respect to the failure of the first board as it was operating without any user interaction on battery power when it stopped working.
