how to use "make burn-fuse avrdude"

by trentontech on Wed Apr 02, 2008 10:37 am

Hi , I am new to this.

I am using Windows 2000, when I open the command line prompt and type in make burn-fuse avrdude, I got the unknow command "make" message.

What do I need to install before doing all these?

Thanks

You'll need to install AVRDude: http://www.ladyada.net/learn/avr/setup-win.html

Then you'll need the makefile with that command in it. Create a folder somewhere easy, let's say C:\AVR and now either download a makefile (make sure it has that command, grab a source code for the TV-B-Gone and use that makefile) or create a file called makefile.txt in that directory and type in
Code: Select all | TOGGLE FULL SIZE
full: $(TARGET).hex
   make burn-fuse
   make program

burn-fuse:
   $(AVRDUDE) $(AVRDUDE_FLAGS) -B 250 -u -U lfuse:w:0xfd:m -U hfuse:w:0xde:m
Save it, then remove the .txt extension. (If you can't see .txt, you may need to change your Windows settings. In explorer, it's under 'Folder Options' > 'View' > 'Hide extensions for known types')

Now open a cmd prompt and type in
Code: Select all | TOGGLE FULL SIZE
cd C:\AVR
(Or whatever your directory is)
Now type in
Code: Select all | TOGGLE FULL SIZE
make burn-fuse

Hope that helps!
