ItsyBitsy M0 Express compatible with Adafruit SleepyDog?

by rickpeterson on Wed Jan 09, 2019 6:33 pm

The GitHub page for Adafruit_SleepyDog library says it supports the Arduino Zero, Adafruit Feather M0 (ATSAMD21) hardware. Since IstyBitsy M0 Express uses the same ATSAMD21 MCU, it is compatible?

It also says:
Arduino Leonardo or other 32u4-based boards (e.g. Adafruit Feather) WITH CAVEAT: USB Serial connection is clobbered on sleep;
I experienced that problem with my Feather MO Express board which is not a 32u4 chip. Will I have this serial issue with the IstyBitsy M0 Express board?

I am ready to purchase two IstyBitsy M0 Express boards; but, want this feedback to avoid having to return them.

I just ran the BasicUsage example on an Itsy M0 and it ran fine.
Code: Select all | TOGGLE FULL SIZE
Adafruit Watchdog Library Demo!

Enabled the watchdog with max countdown of 4000 milliseconds!

Looping ten times while resetting the watchdog...
Loop #1
Loop #2
Loop #3
Loop #4
Loop #5
Loop #6
Loop #7
Loop #8
Loop #9
Loop #10

Get ready, the watchdog will reset in 4000 milliseconds!

After 4 secs, it reset and changed com ports (since Serial Monitor was still connected to this one). Opening Serial Monitor on the new com port started the above all over again.

I figured an M0 is an M0 regardless of the board it comes on; so, I ordered the two boards yesterday and they shipped today. Thank you for the confirmation. I have not had success with reopening Serial Monitor afterward [even with USBDevice.attach() command] testing with my current Feather M0 Express board; but, I can live with that annoyance.

I have been impressed with Adafruit's support and "reasonable" policies. Thank you for being there/here for your customers.

See if it changed ports after the reset. It did that to me.
