Substituting a Matchport B/G for the Xport

by wirelessjoe on Mon Mar 23, 2009 5:52 pm

Instead of using the Xport, I'd like to connect the Arduino wirelessly. By replacing the Xport with a Matchport b/g and connecting the same TX, RX, RTS and CTS pins - is that enough to get the arduino to communicate wirelessly or are changes to the code necessary?

Thank you.

Electrically, that's true...but be aware that the Matchport is a lot bigger than the XPort Direct and won't fit in the same socket.

Yeah, I'm aware of that. I'm suggesting if you used a breadboard/custom pcb.

thanks. any other advice is also much appreciated.

i think you could do it. but you may be happier by connecting an arduino to the serial port of a cheapy wireless router

depressingly enough, its cheaper to get a full linux router and hack it than use a matchport

see

and his assorted posts. i did it and it only took a day to do
