to clone an arduino mini

by vinnyc on Sun Apr 26, 2009 6:59 am

Hi everybody,
I have a programmed arduino mini and I need another equal one with the same program inside, but I haven't the code anymore. Can I "copy" the program inside the programmed arduino and "paste" it to the second arduino mini with the USBtinyISP AVR Programmer?
If this is possible, what is the simplest way to do it? Do I need a software? How to proceed?
Sorry for the incorrect terms.

Thank you
vinnyc

this might snag the program out of flash.
Code: Select all | TOGGLE FULL SIZE
avrdude -c usbtiny -p m168 -U flash:r:program.hex:i

thank you, but can you explain how to use this code? I mean a sort of step by step instruction.
I'm sorry but I have this need and not enough experience.

buy a usbtinyisp
read www.ladyada.net/learn/avr
then read everything at http://www.ladyada.net/make/usbtinyisp/

only a couple of things more,
is the code ok as it is posted or I must know the name of the "program".hex?
In wich way avrdude snag out the program from flash? it writes the code in the dos window?
saves an .hex file somewhere? or what? :?

Thank you again
Bye

if you use
Code: Select all | TOGGLE FULL SIZE
avrdude -c usbtiny -p m168 -U flash:r:program.hex:i
you get a file called program.hex. if on the other hand you use
Code: Select all | TOGGLE FULL SIZE
avrdude -c usbtiny -p m168 -U flash:r:floccinausinihilipilification.hex:i
you get a file called floccinausinihilipilification.hex. in either case the file will turn up in your current working directory.
