Trinket Pro - Can't find USBtiny device

by fitsum on Mon Nov 13, 2017 2:50 pm

I have a Trinket Pro 5V/16MHz connected over USB on OSX that gives the following error when I try to upload blink sketch via Arduino IDE

Code: Select all | TOGGLE FULL SIZE
avrdude: Error: Could not find USBtiny device (0x1781/0xc9f)

I've retried immediately after pressing reset
I'm using a USB cable through a USB2 hub that came with a gopro so I'm certain it's data cable not charge only

What board do you have selected in the boards menu and do you have a com port selected? Set the compile and upload options to verbose in the preferences and post the entire output for us to see. Please use code tags when posting code or logs to the forums. It preserves formatting and makes it easier for everyone to read the code. Click the code button above the reply box and past your code between the tags created.

Do you have the USBtinyISP selected as the programmer? https://learn.adafruit.com/introducing-pro-trinket#setting-up-arduino-ide

Alright, let's try replacing it. Please contact support@adafruit.com with a link to this topic and they will get you a replacement Trinket Pro.

@franklin97355
can you advise on Arduino 2.1 on raspberry pi? Under Tools, Serial Port is greyed out and I don't get a board manager from the Board submenu.
I get the following error
Code: Select all | TOGGLE FULL SIZE
Serial port "COM1" not found. Did you select the right one from the Tools > Serial ....
