by wpa6702 on Thu Apr 12, 2018 4:07 pm

Can someone please help me. I always wanted to do electronics and now that I am 65 years old
and have cancer I'm gonna try.
I bought the 2 products below from 2 sites and what I need to know is
how do I hook up the adafruit Amp to the MP3 Player Board. The reason I am doing this is I want the Mp3 Player board to be
Louder when I hook the speaker to it. Can anyone help? Thank You in advance

Connecting the amplifier board to your MP3 layer should not be too difficult. But the difference between 2W and 2.5W is probably not going to make a big difference in volume.

What speaker are you planning to drive with this?

To connect the output of the MP3 to the amp you would need a 3.5mm plug like this: https://www.adafruit.com/product/1800
And some wire.

You would connect the 'tip' of the plug to A+ and the 'shield' of the plug to A-.
Connect VIN to the positive terminal of your power supply (2v to 5.5v) and the GND to the negative terminal.

You can run them both from the same power supply.

You have not answered the question asked earlier. What speaker are you trying to drive with this?

You will get more sound out of the 3" 4-ohm speaker than from the smaller 8-ohm speaker.

To connect the two boards, you will need to make a cable that plugs into the jack on your MP3 board, and connect it as described above.
To connect the output of the MP3 to the amp you would need a 3.5mm plug like this: https://www.adafruit.com/product/1800
And some wire.

You would connect the 'tip' of the plug to A+ and the 'shield' of the plug to A-.

You will need to connect power to both of the boards.
