Beginner need help for my daughter

by Arias985 on Tue Apr 17, 2018 4:25 am

My daughter is 7 and has shown a real interest in electronics and robotics. I want to get her started with Arduino but my head is swimming with all the options.

I myself am also a complete beginner in this world (but I do have an IT background so I am not completely hopeless!).

I would like to start small. Can you please recommend a starter pack, a book, possible accessories and anything else you think would be a great starting path for my 7 year old.

Thank you for your help!!!

The Circuit Playground Express is a good place to start. It is an all-in-one experimentation kit with on-board sensors, lights microphone & speaker. It can be programmed in Make-Code, Circuit Python, or the 'Arduino Language' (C++): https://www.adafruit.com/product/3333

You will need a standard micro-USB cable for programming it.
Unfortunately, we are out of the starter packs at the moment. If you sign up for notification, you will get an email as soon as they are available: https://www.adafruit.com/product/3517

There are guides to get you started here:

And if you scroll down on the project page, you will find dozens of links to projects based on the Circuit Playground Express:
