Time of Flight Distance Sensor Error

Post by KFLaieh »

I have been using the Time of Flight Distance Sensor (https://www.adafruit.com/product/3317) on a project.

The sensor works as intended and gives the correct readings when it is powered by a Regulated 5v power sources.

My end goal for this project is to have it powered by solar power, which means it is a unregulated 4.3v.

On the products information page, it says the sensor will work with any 3-5v power sources. But whenever I power the sensor with the solar power, the sensor does not function properly and only outputs 65,535, which I found out means "Time-Out".

I have no idea why changing only the power source causes the sensor to malfunction so much. Any help or ideas will be appreciated.
