gShield Motor connector

Post by josephc »

I got a gshield in this order 1862822-1079899680

And one of the motor connectors refuses to cinch down. I’ve squinted at it repeated right tight, left loosey. But that one screw won’t engage.

What are my options?

Remove the wire, back the screw all the way out, then re-insert the wire - making sure it goes under the clamping jaw - & re-tighten.

Sorry for the delay in replying.

I got the board out and where I could easily see what the terminal is doing. I compared and contrasted this one terminal with it's neighbors. if you back out a normal terminal it comes to a stop at full out, this one spins forever. If you drive a normal terminal all the way end it has a little pop action like it is going over a bump as you spin it, this one doesn't have that bump it silently spins at the bottom forever. it's neighbor in the block of two is just fine, as well as the other 2 block for that motor.

What are the specs on the terminal connectors?

I think I see what is physically wrong. The metal piece that grabs the lead is taller in the connector with the arrow marking it.
it must have been put in wrong some how.

So I guess Adafruit isn't interested in supporting what they have sold.

When I get this terminal block replaced I post the details so that others can know what to expect in manufacturer quality.

Sorry I was out on vacation and did not see your belated reply.

If you contact support @adafruit.com with a link to this thread we can replace the board.

A little fault diagnostics for you. Below is a picture of the two crimping blocks. they are both oriented so that the screw whole is to the top.
the one on the right is correct, the one on the left was drilled upside down, and from there on out it was doomed.

Thanks Joe
