Trigger On/Off Audio and LED Strip

by solariszone on Wed Feb 06, 2019 1:40 pm

I'm trying to trigger an LED strip to light up with the sound when I trigger the switch. Please see PDF attachment. Is this possible with Arduino MP3 board or is there another board that will allow something like this? I also looked around the Adafruit site for something that may allow this but I'm not sure.

Any insight on how I may be able to do this is appreciated.
Cheers,
Dave

I think your going to have to mix code to do what your trying to do.....

These guides can help you make the code and logic needed for your project....

For the sound shield you will need this one...
https://www.adafruit.com/product/94

Follow this tutorial to get your led's turning ON when the music/sound is being played ON.
There's a video on the tutorial showing what it does....
Theres really no code for the LED's to turn on at the same time the sound plays, because its a component hack just solder a resistor pin to a Analog pin

If your trying to Light ON a strip of Neopixels with the sound, read this tutorial; although your not using a microphone you can see the logic on how the neopixels are being manipulated...

The Wave Shield requires a lot of Soldering for a Begginer who does not solder a lot, practice your soldering before you try putting it together.... and don't over heat your chips, they can go bad... I left some pointers in this forum post...
https://forums.adafruit.com/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=142860

As far as your button... your going to have to figure out how it is going to work in all this code...

Hope this helps you

Cheers...

Thanks BlueShark for the detailed response. From your analysis, it definitely requires a lot more skill and effort than I imagined. Well.. as they say; No Guts No Glory.
I'll give it a shot....
