CircuitPython for Arduino Nano 33 BLE

by cdubs14 on Thu Sep 05, 2019 3:48 pm

Hi,

I was just curious if there was a way to integrate the new Arduino Nano 33 BLE board with CircuitPython. I tried uploading CircuitPython for the Feather nRF52840 Express to the Nano 33 since they share the same chip, but this did not work properly. The firmware was updated using bossac, but the device will not show up afterwards as a "CIRCUITPY" removable drive. It is also not detected by Mu. This is the firmware I uploaded: https://circuitpython.org/board/feather_nrf52832/

Is there any current firmware that could be adapted for the new Arduino, or will these have to be written fresh?

Thanks for your help!

The Nano 33 uses a SAMD21, not an nRF52480.

Are you sure? On Arduino’s website it states the board is based on the nRF CPU:

Ah.. I was looking at the basic Nano 33.

There are different variants of the nRF52480, and we don’t know how the Nano is connected to the USB interface. You’ll probably need to check with the folks over in the Arduino forums to find the details:
