Those wires should generally be OK. How many colors do you have available? Using all green makes it difficult to track the pin connections.

and have even used the recommended format-er to ensure the SD card is FAT32.

Just to be sure here, you were following this:
https://learn.adafruit.com/adafruit-mic ... ting-notes
and you chose FAT32? Not something lik exFAT?

That is correct,
I also ensured that the MicroSD was formatted in FAT32 by using the formatting software recommended in the above guide.

Can you post the complete text you are seeing in the serial monitor when running the CArdInfo example.

You changed the chip select line in the sketch to match your setup?

Hello,

As stated in my original post, my serial monitor output starts with:
"\nInitializing SD card . . ."
Then after a moment responds with:
"initialization failed. Things to check: is a card inserted? is your wiring correct? did you change the chipSelect pin to match your shield or module?"

And yes, I have altered my chip select pin to pin 10. Perhaps using that pin as the chip select is only valid for the arduino Uno and not the micro? Maybe a different pin configuration is required for the micro and the official reference tutorial is intended for Uno?

Thank you for your continued help.

It might be the other way around, not the CS pin, but the other SPI pins.

For the Micro, the hardware SPI pins are not on 11/12/13. I think they are on the other end of the board. Having trouble finding a good pinout for the Micro, but on Arduino's main page:
https://store.arduino.cc/usa/arduino-micro
can at least get this from the PDF schematic:

Oh I did not catch that!

I will go rewire as soon as I return home and post an update.

Would such a mishap also be responsible for the camera not functioning either?

Thanks

Not really. The camera uses serial, not SPI. So would be different pins.

Hello,

taking the schematics diagram of the arduino micro into consideration, the SD breakout board was able to successfully initialize and supply me with info regarding the inserted SD card.

However, hooking the camera back up to the circuit did not yield successful results.. Failure to detect the camera is still an issue.

I really appreciate your help so far!

Do you have anything you could use to try and view the analog video output? So you could try this test?

Unfortunately I do not. I do have some HDMI cables that I might be able to jerry-rig to interface with the camera. What sort cable should I use?

HDMI won't work. If your device accepted the input, it would have a panel connector that looks the yellow one here:
https://learn.adafruit.com/assets/204
You would need an RCA patch cable to connect the two. It's a very old school analog signal that not many things accept any more.

Let's check the soldering on the camera module. Can you post a photo showing this area better.

Yeah, I probably deserve a bit of shame for these solder jobs. Attached are the solders for two of different camera boards. I was informed not to use pin connectors (Can you verify that I should not?) so I stripped the jumper wire, tied it through the pin hole and soldered it them. I will try to perhaps strip, then fold the wire into a pin and just run it up through the bottom and solder that. Despite the appearance in the attached photos, no solder bridges are present.

Yah, it might be that soldering. It's at least worth it to try and clean it up a bit. It's good that there are no shorts. But some of them look a little cold soldered.

I'm not sure why you were told not to use pin connectors. There's nothing wrong with that in general. Direct soldered connection do reduce some amount of uncertainty since there are fewer junctions, so are good for that. But using header pins is a very common thing to do also. It really comes down to your specific application and how you want things set up.

Hello,

Thanks for the recommendations. After forging some custom pin connectors, I was able to solder them on properly. This allowed for images to be stored on the SD card. I am having a bit of trouble actually opening these images but I think that is computer related, "It looks like we don’t support this file format." but they are JPEG so it is a bit strange.

Thanks for all the help!

Cool. Sounds like this was all just maybe some wiring issues. Along with pin issues.

Can you try uploading one of the JPG files here. I can take a look and try to open it. At least it's saving something to the SD card now :)
