25 light strip music reactive

by pnutsnz on Mon Apr 06, 2020 4:54 am

Hi guys, nice to be here, these are great forums!.
Just recently I purchased a 25 light adafruit strip (WS2801) & power supply. Also purchased an Arduino Uno board.
A while back I watched a video on how to wire up and download code to setup the lights as music reactive controlled by the Uno board.. With the lights going from low to high in response to the music level.
Has anybody achieved this?. If so I would be keen to try myself.
I have even forgotten the title of the code to download.

Thanks in advance,

Pete

There are a number of sound-reactive LED projects in the Learning System: https://learn.adafruit.com/search?q=sound%20reactive

You will need some way to get the music into the arduino. Microphone would probably be the easiest to start with. I did this and just watched an analog input. Found for the max and min over a period of time, used the difference as the volume of the sound. That gave me a value I could use to run the light effects from.
