Adafruit 2.7” Tri-Color E-InK

by BrotherDan on Thu Mar 04, 2021 12:49 pm

Greetings,
I seem to be having trouble communicating with my newly arrived Adafruit 2.7” Tri-Color E-Ink display.
I am using this with an Arduino UNO and have copied the code for the EPD Graphicstest.
I initially successfully ran this sketch and had a response from the display, but after it stopped responding, I realized I had not uncommented the correct line to address the display.
I uncommented this line: Adafruit_IL91874 display(264, 176, EPD_DC, EPD_RESET, EPD_CS, SRAM_CS); and commented out the code line for the incorrect display.
I now have no response from the display when I run the sketch.
The display also does not respond when I reset using the reset button on the shield, nor does it respond when I change the EPD_RESET to -1 and reboot the system.
Has anyone else seen this behavior? If so, could you please give me guidance based on your experiences or expertise?

Thank you,

BrotherDan

Just to be sure, you are running this example sketch?

OK, let's check hardware also. Please post a photo of your setup showing how everything is connected.

Here’s a photo of my hardware setup. Fairly simple...Just the display shield riding on the UNO board.

Thanks...

Same response with a new ‘out of the box’ UNO board...

What do you see in the Serial Monitor output when you run the program?

The serial monitor shows that that portion of the sketch is working as expected.
The serial monitor shows: “Hello! EPD Test Initialized”.

Try setting both RESET and BUSY pins to -1:
Code: Select all | TOGGLE FULL SIZE
#define EPD_CS     10
#define EPD_DC      9
#define SRAM_CS     8
#define EPD_RESET   -1 // can set to -1 and share with microcontroller Reset!
#define EPD_BUSY    -1 // can set to -1 to not use a pin (will wait a fixed delay)

EPD_RESEET and EPD_BUSY set to -1 and reloaded sketch...No change...

Greetings,

Any further recommendations?

I would like to continue to support Adafruit with my purchases for my Arduino (and now my Raspberry Pi) needs.
A significant portion of my decision-making process is my evaluation of how efficacious the support team is when I need their assistance.

Thank you,

BrotherDan

we're debugging what happened. it used to work :D we recently did a lot of work on the EPD library and this seemed to have lost capabiltiy...

Thanks for getting back to me.
Let me know what you find and how I can resolve my technical difficulties.

I have the 2.13" EPD display and am trying to get it to work with a UNO. No luck so far.
The pin assignments on the Arduino setup page are a bit different than the ones on the demo code--
SRAM_CS is assigned to 8 in the fritzing diagram and to 6 in the Arduino code ("#define SRAM_CS 6").

@mamcgu Please start a new thread for your issue.

@BrotherDan Did updating to the latest library fix this for you? (at least v.4.3.2)
