Mouse's optical x/y sensor as Arduino input

by Martijn-The on Tue Mar 11, 2008 2:30 am

Hi,

I've written a tutorial on how to use a plain and cheap optical mouse (USB or PS/2, it doesn't matter) and interface the optical sensor inside with an Arduino. You can find it here: Tutorial & library: Optical mouse sensor to Arduino

It's fun to build in the sensor upside-down, and manipulate it with some surface, like your hands. I'm using it to control a music "scratch" program in Pure Data.

Another example of the sensor in a different setting: MouseField

Best,
Martijn
