arduino shield

by ciamx on Wed Oct 08, 2008 12:21 am

I'm taking an electronics class in which I need to create something (anything really!) using the Arduino. An idea I had was to use the Arduino Shield to connect to the internet, get the weather from some website, and then display it on an LCD..
I'm not sure if this is actually feasible, so any advice would be much appreciated...

1. Write a daemon in python on your pc that waits for a command from your arduino

2. Daemon then sends the information to the arduino in a nice orderly fashion

3. Display it on your lcd.

You don't even need an ethernet shield this way. I did this quite successfully for a pc monitor (krell)

Another question..is there a way to get the arduino to read an xml feed, and then based on that, send something to an lcd?

Take a look at the YBOX further down the forum lists.
