Lilypad Bootloader - Internal or External Clock?!

by powerpants on Thu Feb 12, 2009 7:02 pm

So I've got a board with an atmega168 that I want to flash the Lilypad bootloader to, but I've got no external oscillator. Everything I've read says that the current version of the Lilypad has an external oscillator, but when I checked the boards.txt file in my arduino directory, this is what it says are the fuse settings for the Lilypad:

lilypad.bootloader.low_fuses=0xe2
lilypad.bootloader.high_fuses=0xdd

which means that it is being set to use the internal 8MHz oscillator!

So am I ok? Are all the Lilypads out there which have been flashed with the arduino IDE secretly not using their external oscillators?

no need to worry, the bootloader doesn't know what the clock source is, nor does it care. as long as things are chugging along at 8MHz all will be rosy.
