Hello,
I have recently updated to Arduino IDE 1.6.7 and now yesterday 1.6.8. I was trying to re-flash a working Trinket 3v with 10 NeoPixels to a new flash pattern and I have seemed to blow away the Trinket. I now don't get a good boot loader on reset.
I get all sorts of avrdude errors that have been documented in older articles.
I have trashed a reloaded the Arduino IDE from your instructions.
I tried a new Trinket 3v, seemed to blow that.
I tried a new Trinket 5v, seemed to blow that.
I broke out a UNO and reloaded the Trinket 5v boot loader, worked great, then re-programmed via the standard Arduino IDE and blew the Trinket again.
What is the current status of Trinket programming, with IDE 1.6.8 and the Adafruit libraries. (no by hand mods to avrdude.conf) with MacOS 10.11.3? Should this be a simple no brainer? Its turing into a head banger. I need this for my sons science fair, and I will have to go with a uno if I can't get this program to load.
Besides reloading the boot loader with a Uno I have not done this before. Let me ask can I program the trinket via Uno? Is there a document own this?
Chris

I would recommend going back to Arduino 1.6.5 and trying that. You can't use the Uno to program the Trinket but you should try burning the bootloader following this tutorial
