No immediate start of sketch

by jglamphear on Sat Feb 21, 2009 4:44 pm

I'm running an Atmega328 on a Bare Bones Board Rev D using Arduino 13. After uploading, the sketch does not run automatically, but only after hitting the reset button. Any ideas?

'adab00t' chips (such as those at adafruit.com) have the 'quickstart' hack...but not everyone uses that hack so that might be it

I purchased the chip within the past 2 weeks from adafruit.com, so I was anticipating the sketch to quickstart. Once, out of the last last 20-30 or so uploads, the sketch started automatically, but it couldn't be reproduced. Could it be a hardware (Bare Bones Board Rev D) or software serial communications (Arduino 13 running on a Mac G4) issue?

oh ya, if you use a Mac AND a FTDI adapter that uses RTS not DTR such as a clone you wont get it because the serial port is tweaked when closing. sorry!
