I don't see anything out of the ordinary in that photo. The pins in the upper right corner are bridged together on all Megas of that kind. They're mounting lugs for the USB and Ethernet jacks, and both should be connected to GND.

Do you have anything else attached to the Mega?

Does your computer report that the Mega is using too much power?

Yes! I connected a 9v battery to its dc terminals and an LED along with an in line resistor as an indication that I have a good board and I'm not getting anything.

Does it work if you disconnect the 9V battery and just use USB power?

I've tried powering it through the usb connection using just my phone and I get nothing.

Which dc terminals did you connect the battery to? Vin and Gnd, or something different?

Did you have a resistor in-line with the LED?

I have a 9V battery connected to Vin and ground with a switch as a digital input and the LED and resistor connecting to a digital output using 20awg.

Sounds like your Mega may be damaged. Where did you get it?

I have an atmega 2560 adk and I am in need of a new data cable but I'm having trouble locating the right one on this site. Could you please contact me and let me know if you all have what I need so that I can purchase one. My email address is [email protected].

Isn't it just a regular USB cable? What does your target take? A micro B? If so, I think you'd want something like this:

Yes it is a rwgular isb cable. Just don't need mini or micro plug. Cable plugs into the computer to the 2560. So both ends I believe take a 2.0 plug.

I sent in a request recently for a data transfer cable. I couldn't find exactly what I was looking for so I asked for a little help. The last post I made was kind of vague. So here's a little more info on what I need that may be helpful. I'm going to need a usb/IEEE 1394 type a male/male data cable.
