WaveShield 1.1 Build Problems

by dataman on Fri Jul 24, 2009 5:04 pm

Some problems in the waveshield 1.1 build:

1)
Panel 7: Displays a picture of a 100 ohm resister, should be a 10k Ohm.

2)
Panel 25: Text should read: "In the photo, that's on the LEFT."

3)
Second to last Panel: For accuracy sake, and to properly document, should
really state the pinout rather than making us guess from twisting photos
around...

2 -> LCS
3 -> CLK
4 -> DI
5 -> LAT
10 -> LCS

4)
My biggest problem seems to have been frack'n MBR on the Windows formatted SD card.
Using the panasonic program in your stick and a handly expernal reader, I was able to clear the card.
Then the waveshield worked immediately.
Which says to me that either the code should be picking up on the bug,
(And I'll tinker around with that...)
Or, this pananosic formatter not should really be in the docs as well.
Or at least that the MBR is known problem in some Windows formatted SD cards.

5)
Kind of curious, in the sketches you refer to redled,
I'm guessing that's the unused led on the board,
Was that maybe supposed to hook up through the remaining jumper? SW?
Didn't hunt it down, but it's pin 9 in the sketches.
I don't see it implmented in code, maybe in the library.

Yup thats why it says "Form them into staples (as shown left with a 100 ohm resistor)" :D
other things have been fixed

hmm try fat16lib's wavehc code (its stickied) it may be better at it.

its an extra, i used it for debugging but decided not to put it in the kit cuz its not necessary

Ok, so I missed the part about bend into a staple.
But ya gotta admit, a photo of a 10k ohm resistor would be less confusing.

Otherwise, it's another rock'n kit.
Great coding sample,
Great design sample.
I was curious about r/w to sd cards.
Thank you so much for this design!
And for making your kits so easy to build.
