Possible Wave Shield Voice Changer effects?

by DS_Cosplay on Sun Nov 03, 2019 6:10 pm

Hello!

I was looking through your website and found that you manufacture a voice changer that can be rigged up into a costume for real-time voice changing. I've been trying to find one for a project I'm working on, but wanted to ask about what the voice changer can do before I invest in the product.

Would it be possible using the computer programming to have the voice changer produce an effect similar to that of a vintage radio host? For example like a 1930s radio sound to the voice?

I'm not terribly experienced with this type of technology so I'd like to have a firm idea of if the system could work for what I need or not.

Thank you for any time or help you could give!

Hi DS_Cosplay,

A 1930's Radio announcer sounds like a great cosplay project if that is what you are going for. This Wave Shield kit might get you part way there as you could adjust the pitch_shift to radically alter your voice and get some graininess in there. I don't think it will get you all the way as it is quite limited, but definitely a change from a normal voice that adds to the experience.

You can see the pitchShift() bits in the code and the keypad could trigger authentic radio old timmy wave sample off the SD card.

Great! That's what I was wondering. I figured it wouldn't be able to replicate something so specific down to the letter, but if it could get close and give the general idea of that old radio announcer effect that's what I'm looking for!

Thank you so much for your help!!
